Besakih – Mother Temple

Located on the North East of Bali, Besakih is the largest Hindu temple in Bali. The basic structure resembles the ancient style of pyramid assemble thus believed to be built 2000 years ago and originally as a place of worship. It’s location on the declivity of Mount Agung allows one to enjoy a panoramic view of the island from one of the highest points in Bali. Magically, in 1963 when Mount Agung erupted and effected 65,000 hectare of land, Besakih which is located right on the side of the mountain was not effected by the massive natural disaster.
